Privacy Policy

Best Time To Go ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This page explains what data we collect, why, and what we do with it. Short version: we collect almost nothing, we do not sell anything to anyone, and you can leave at any time without leaving a trace.
What we collect
What you give us voluntarily:
- Email address, only if you submit it to our waitlist or to a "Notify me" smart alert. Used to email you when the relevant feature ships or destination window opens.
- Wishlist destinations, only if you tap the heart icon. Stored locally in your browser (localStorage), not on our servers.
- Subscription plan choice (Free / Premium / Business). Currently stored only in localStorage. Real payment data is handled by Stripe when payments launch.
What we collect automatically:
- Standard HTTP server logs (IP address, browser type, referrer, timestamp) for the brief time our serverless functions process a request. We do not associate these with your email unless you submit one through a form on the same session.
- Anonymous, aggregated page views via privacy-friendly analytics (Vercel Web Analytics). No third-party cookies, no cross-site tracking.
What we do not collect
- Your location (we never request geolocation).
- Your full name, phone number, billing address, or any payment details.
- Browsing history outside Best Time To Go.
- Anything via third-party trackers, ad pixels, or social-media beacons.
Weather data
Weather queries go directly from your browser to Open-Meteo's public API. We pass the destination's coordinates and the month you selected. Open-Meteo does not require an API key and does not log identifiable user data per their own terms.
Affiliate links
When you tap "Search hotels", "Search flights", "Travel insurance" or "Local activities", you leave our site for the partner's site (Booking.com, Skyscanner, SafetyWing, Viator). We may earn a commission if you book through that link. We do not see your booking details. The partner's privacy policy applies to your activity there.
Cookies and local storage
We use browser localStorage to remember your preferences (language, units, theme, wishlist, plan). We do not set tracking cookies. Clearing your browser storage clears everything.
How long we keep data
- Email submissions: kept until you ask us to delete them.
- Server logs: 30 days, then automatically rotated out by our infrastructure provider.
- Localstorage on your device: until you clear it.
Your rights
If you are in the EU/UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have the right to:
- Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to delete that data.
- Correct anything inaccurate.
- Object to processing or restrict it.
- Withdraw consent for any optional feature at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@besttimetogo.app. We respond within 30 days.
Children
Best Time To Go is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, notify our waitlist by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
